A serving Met Police officer is to appear in court charged with assault and perverting the course of justice.
PC Bilal Naveed was arrested on Friday in connection with an assault that took place on Saturday April 1, when he was off duty. He has been suspended from the force, and remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday. The Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Office for Police Conduct are aware of the incident.
PC Naveed is part of the Basic Command Unit covering the North East of London, which includes Waltham Forest and Newham.
