Three years on from the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the virus continues to spread across society.

Lockdowns - both national and local - are a thing of the past, with the general Covid-19 testing system dismantled by government. This means that testing data provided by the government doesn't represent a full picture, with many cases of the virus now going undetected in society. But people are still testing, especially when they feel under the weather. And the results count for something, giving us a general impression of where the virus might be spreading worse. In Lancashire, the Moss Side area of Leyland, in South Ribble, is a problem with infections spiking at 235 cases per 100,000 people in the week to February 11. The Bare area of Morecambe, in the Lancaster district, is also problematic with a case rate of 208.

In total, three Lancashire areas have Covid rates higher than 100, with four neighbourhoods in the 90s.
