Severe wet weather is set to hit south east Queensland on Thursday afternoon which could trigger 'damaging winds and large hail stones' near the area.

"Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours."Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has advised people in the area to move their car under cover, secure loose outdoor items, stay indoors and avoid using a telephone during the storm. South east Queensland is bracing for"severe thunderstorms" on Thursday as an afternoon of wet weather rolls on.

The storm could reach Brisbane as chances of heavy rain range from just inland of Port Macquarie to emerald in Queensland. "The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening," their Brisbane forecast read.
