Constantin Radu admitted to a probation officer that he intended to rape a woman he assaulted in Nottingham city centre. He also intentionally exposed himself to two girls and a female police officer.
A sex attacker said when he grabbed a woman from behind as she walked alone down a canal path in Nottingham city centre, he intended to rape her. Nottingham Crown Court was told that Constantin Radu made the admission when he was being interviewed by a probation officer ahead of being sentenced.
Adjourning the sentence so that a psychological assessment can be done, Judge Nirmal Shant KC said: “You told the probation officer, in your interview for your pre-sentence report, that the reason you put your hand over mouth was that your intention was to rape her but she screamed and you ran off. That raises great concern to the court.
David Eager, prosecuting, said the offences all took place in a two-day period late last year. He said on October 30, two women were in Nottingham city centre and, as they walked through the new gardens in Listergate, they spotted Rady, who had his hands down the front of his trousers and was “rubbing himself”. He said: “He was looking directly at them as he did so. They were scared and so went to the nightclub and told the security there.
Mr Eager said two days later, on the evening of November 1, a group of 11 people were walking down the canal path in the city centre and passed Radu who was sitting on a bench with his hands down the front of his trousers. He said: “Then a woman walked by and he got up and started following her. He was behind her as she walked down the canal path, approached her from behind, reached over with his right hand and put it over her mouth and moved his other hand between her legs.
