Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon lost his bid to represent Ireland at Eurovision 🔴 Lydon and his band entered with “Hawaii”, a song described as a ‘love letter’ to his wife of nearly 50 years, Nora, who has Alzheimer’s disease

and his band Public Image Ltd have lost their bid to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest.

However, a combination of votes from a national and international jury and from the public on Friday night saw PiL’s song finish in fourth position. Mr Lyndon, formerly known as Johnny Rotten, said at the beginning of the show: “This song we pieced together to try and tell the story as genuinely as we could without breaking down in tears.”“I recommend Hawaii to everyone for a holiday because it is the best Alzheimer’s cure.”

“A delicate song might stand out if it did go to Eurovision. It is heartbreaking what is happening with his wife.”Conor O’Donohoe, from Wild Youth, said the band was “overwhelmed” by the victory.
