She condemned ministers for what she said was slow progress in implementing menopause support and argued women’s contribution to the workplace was being undervalued.
The Government announced the decisions in a response to the committee’s 2022 report, which warned the impact of menopause is causing the UK economy to “haemorrhage talent” as women either choose or are forced to leave due to a lack of workplace support. But the Government opted not to consult on whether it would be possible to change current equality laws to include menopause as a protected characteristic.
