A newly covered basketball court is soon coming to Hemisfair.
A $1.8 million donation from the McCombs Foundation and Spurs Give made plans for the court possible.–
According to a press release, the ‘Red & Charline McCombs Community Court’ will be in the Hemisfair District near the Tower of Americas.A $1.8 million donation from the McCombs Foundation and Spurs Give made plans for the court possible. “We are grateful to the McCombs family and Spurs Give,” said Andres Andujar, Hemisfair CEO. “Through the creation of the Tower Park vision and use plan, we heard from the community that a shaded basketball court would be used and loved, and we can deliver thanks to the funders’ dedication to enhancing recreational opportunities for our residents.”
The ‘Red & Charline McCombs Community Court’ and the surrounding areas encourage the community to gather and participate in physical activity, Hemisfair said in the release.Construction for the basketball court will begin in the spring of 2024.Spencer Heath is a Digital Journalist at KSAT.
