Shane Lowry sinks a hole-in-one at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, marking the first time in 16 years that there have been multiple aces at the tournament. Lowry joins Rory McIlroy in achieving this feat, and celebrates with a bucket of Guinness and Bud Light.
Shane Lowry celebrated a hole-in-one at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am by immediately cracking open a bucket of Guinness and Bud Light for the waiting media. Lowry's ace on the famous 113-yard seventh hole, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, follows Rory McIlroy's earlier hole-in-one, marking the first time in 16 years that there have been multiple aces at the tournament.
Lowry's achievement completes his personal golfing Holy Trinity by producing a hole-in-one on three of the world's most iconic par threes. He previously aced the par-three 17th at TPC Sawgrass' island-green during the third round of the Players Championship three years ago and the par-three 16th hole at Augusta National's during the final round of the Masters in 2016. Lowry shared the crate of beers on ice on social media, captioning the photo: 'Couple of cold ones, Rory McIlroy.' There and Augusta and Sawgrass. Yeah, I don't know what to say. I know I'm pretty good at times, but you know, a bit of luck every now and then is helpful, too.” Lowry, while reveling in his achievement, stressed he wouldn't go overboard ahead of the second round - though joked a joint-bar tab with McIlroy could be in order. He stated: 'School night, so unfortunately not for me.
