Shane van Gisbergen won the pole Saturday morning for his first Xfinity race on the Chicago Street Course. Last year, van Gisbergen put on a clinic on the wet streets of Chicago, surprising the field and capturing a win in his maiden NASCAR race. van Gisbergen restarted third on the final green restart and secured the lead by turn seven.
We were going to give each other space because it’s early on but you just never know when the race plays out if I was going to have a chance to battle him and learn race craft stuff.'Both drivers look forward to hopefully racing for the win tomorrow as van Gisbergen attempts to defend his Chicago Cup victory and Larson looks to defend his champion lead. The two dominated the first stage, with van Gisbergen securing the stage win with a last-lap pass on Larson.
