Motorists were being asked to consider alternative routes
The area between Shaw Road South and Adswood Lane in Shaw Heath, Stockport, has been reopened after earlier being closed due to a police incident. The decision to close the route was made shortly before 1am today and the road was reopened around 4.20am.
Motorists were being asked to consider using Wellington Road S / Buxton Road as an alternative route while the road was closed. A tweet from Transport for Greater Manchester at 12.58am today read: "Shaw Heath, Stockport closed between Shaw Road South and Adswood Lane due to a police incident. Consider using Wellington Road S/Buxton Road as an alternative route."
But at 4.23am, the organisation posted: "Shaw Heath has now reopened following an earlier police incident."
