The Steelers and Nottingham Panthers did not take to the ice this weekend following Johnson's tragic death
Sheffield Steelers head coach Aaron Fox says the club will "start back up next week" as he thanked fans for their support following the death of Adam Johnson. after a collision in a game between the clubs on Saturday, October 28.
The eight other Elite League teams returned to action this weekend and while Steelers confirmed the team had an on-ice training session on Thursday, November 2, no date for the Panthers' return has yet been confirmed. Clubs around the country have held special tributes to Johnson at games this weekend.
"To everyone who shared last weekend’s tragic events with us, whether it was in person or on the stream, I know how hard this week must have been for you all, and want you to know that you are in our thoughts and have the full support from inside our dressing room. "Most of the guys have had multiple skates now which has been very positive but also know that each player and staff member is going through things on different timelines and that’s absolutely normal and OK. Each and every player has our full organisational support.
