Sheffield United defender Chris Basham has been stretchered off after suffering a horrific injury against Fulham.
The 35-year-old, who has been with the Blades since 2014 and been a key part of their rise up the leagues, was named as captain for the game at Craven Cottage. After over 10 minutes of treatment, Basham was then taken off the pitch on a stretcher to applause from all four sections of the ground, and the Blades defender was seen holding his arm up to the crowd before he went down the tunnel.
He was named as the club's vice-captain before the current season began, and wore the armband at Craven Cottage due to the absence of fellow defender John Egan."He's an unbelievable player and has been here such a long time he knows the club inside out."He's a leader. Every day in training, he is on it 100 per cent. A quality player and a quality person. Everyone looks up to Bash. A fantastic team-mate.
