Kyle Walker may be on the move as a shock claim has emerged ahead of the Premier League's opening weekend
A shock transfer may have emerged as Kyle Walker has been linked with a move away from Manchester City.
Walker has been a key man in Pep Guardiola’s success sporting six Premier Leagues, Two FA Cups, four League Cups and a UEFA Champions League triumph - among several other trophies under the Spaniard's tutelage. However, the right-back is now 34 years old, and for a player who relies on pace this season could further test his ability. The approach from the Saudi Pro League club is thought to be in its early stages but City’s take on the situation remains unclear.
MEN Sport says: This would certainly take supporters by surprise - but Walker’s time at the elite level could be limited given his age and miles on the clock. Although, Guardiola will likely not be prepared to let the player leave without a potential replacement lined up. Currently, City are not blessed with a depth of talent at right back with youngsters Rico Lewis and Issa Kabore the two potential replacements.
When pressed on Cancelo’s future at City, he explained: "It can happen, yes. In training, we say hi and we talk. In the end, if he stays, we will treat him like the other players with respect and try to make the best of the huge qualities that he has."
