EXCLUSIVE: But it comes as aid and relief charity SCIAF warned Scotland's own missed eco targets risked the country losing international 'credibility'.

Deputy first minister Shona Robison has blasted Rishi Sunak’s lack of green leadership at home and abroad as she accused him of “misleading the public” on the climate threat.

Addressing an international development conference in Edinburgh, Robison said the world had been “far too slow” to address the effects of rising emissions - such as devastating storms and floods - on nations that have done the least to create the crisis. Robison told the Record: “Rishi Sunak and the Tories are trying to make out and mislead the public that somehow net zero targets and climate change can be averted but with no changes to any behaviours whatsoever.“I think they know this is a Prime Minister who's trying to desperately appeal to a core vote for the general election - and he’s prepared to sacrifice the climate in doing so.”

It comes after First Minister Yousaf used a major speech at New York Climate Week last month to urge rich countries to honour their pledges of loss and damage cash. The Catholic Church-linked aid and relief agency has released a new film, 'Not Do Nothing', about how loss and damage funding provided by the Scottish Government helped cyclone-battered Malawi last year.
