Six men are on trial in connection with the death of Ashley Dale
A man on trial accused of plotting a shooting which ended with a woman being shot dead in her own home may have been fuelled a years old feud, a murder trial heard. Ashley Dale was gunned down in her home in Liverpool after a man broke in and opened fire with a Skorpion sub-machine gun, the Echo reports.
The trial of six men in relation to her death began at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday , when the prosecution opened its case. Lead prosecutor Paul Greaney, KC, told the jury the Crown's case is that Witham and a second man, Joseph Peers, were sent by Barry and the other "organisers" - Sean Zeisz and Ian Fitzgibbon - who were "directing operations" from a flat in Pilch Lane, Huyton.
The details of those events, Mr Greaney said, was partly taken from text messages and voice notes retrieved from Ashley's phone after her death. Ashley described how her boyfriend's issues with Barry allegedly went back for years. Sophie agreed, adding: “I don’t know the full story, I just heard years ago the hillsiders robbed him. But like why not do something about it three years ago".
"Second, that the current problem was all over 'the murder a few years ago when they, Niall Barry and Lee Harrison, fell out'. Third, that Niall Barry had disappeared in the aftermath of that issue, but had recently turned up back on the scene and, as Ashley described it, was 'on some pure rampage'. In a message to another friend, Mol, Ashley said: "Don’t want to have to go to Lee’s funeral next. Just had a bad bad feeling about everything mol. It’s horrible me heart’s in my mouth constantly. Feel like I’m looking over my shoulder all the time."
