'I realised something was wrong and saw him in the road'
The boy was hit on St Helens Road, in the Daubhill area, at around 7am this morning . Police said earlier the full extent of his injuries was 'unknown at this time'.
Pictures from the scene showed the police car with its left wing mirror hanging off and a major dent in the windscreen. Another image showed a brown bag and water bottle next to a first aid kit on the road. One shop worker, who wanted to remain anonymous, told the Manchester Evening News he could hear sirens for 'two to three minutes' before 'realising something was wrong'. He then rushed outside to help the boy.
The worker, who said he works for the fire service in Pakistan when not in England, added: "I grabbed my fire service jacket, and the guy was still laying on the floor. I wanted to do first aid but the only thing we could do was clean the wound.A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Greater Manchester Police are currently responding to a collision involving a police vehicle and a 16-year-old pedestrian boy that happened at around 7am today on St Helens Road, Bolton.
