Asda shopper has to 'double take' after being charged £600 for a box of croissants
An Asda customer got the shock of his life when a 'reduced' box of croissants turned out to be more than he bargained for.
The shopper had popped into an Asda store in Warrington for a few 'bits' and couldn't resist the tempting offer when he saw the price had been reduced from £1.70 to just 60p, reports the Liverpool Echo. Thankfully, he didn't have to pay nearly £618 for his planned breakfast and the item was voided after the man called a nearby member of staff over. Responding to the incident, an Asda spokesperson said the incorrect price was a "complete anomaly", caused by a smudged barcode. They added: "We know our croissants are good, but we agree £617 might be pushing it!
