Motorists have been left up in arms after being hit with £100 charges for using a free car park.
Motorists are up in arms after being slapped with £100 fines for using a free car park. Shoppers in Gloucester have been left outraged after being hit with "indiscriminate" tickets during visits to the Peel Centre.
One person said: "The Peel Centre is on the opposite side of the road to the outlet but the siting of a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights and the nature of retail, means that people will visit both sites in one trip. Top news stories today "Also - photographic evidence used to 'prove' these infringements uses photos of vehicles only, not shoppers crossing roads. Surely the financial exploitation of consumers should not form part of your business strategy?"
Reflecting residents' complaints about the issue, local Gloucestershire County Councillor Pam Tracey said: " is in very small print on the signs. If you leave your car at the Peel Centre and pop over to Gloucester Quays you get fined. Apparently this guy stands behind a bush and sees people going over to the Quays."
