'If the charity shops went what else would there be?'
Shoppers in Bulwell are worried about the future of the town's high street as Wilko looks to be added to its list of casualties. On the evening of Wednesday, August 23, Wilko administrators Price Waterhouse Cooper said there was no potential buyer interested in the entirety of the Worksop-based retail business, pushing hundreds of stores to the brink.
"People will go to B&M more but they don't have the same range of household goods. It will be sad to see another one empty. If the charity shops went what else would there be? And as a single male there's not a lot there for me. Another shopper, who lives in Radford but visits Bulwell weekly, said she was concerned continuing losses for the high street would deprive people of human interaction. "I was thinking about how sad it was when I was walking past, I came quite often," said the woman who wished to remain anonymous.
