Sydney said the co-captain injured himself at a post-season event and his timeline for recovery was still to be confirmed.

Sydney co-captain Callum Mills has undergone shoulder surgery after he was injured at a post-season event.

The Swans released a statement on Tuesday night confirming that Mills was recovering from successful surgery performed last week.Channel Seven reported earlier on Tuesday that Mills had hurt himself while wrestling a teammate during a Mad Monday post-season drinks event.Charlie Gardiner, Sydney’s executive general manager of football, said the injury was upsetting.“Callum is our captain and an important member of the squad. We are extremely disappointed this injury has occurred.

“Callum is equally disappointed, as you can imagine, but he is recovering well and will get to work on his rehabilitation immediately.”Mills is a veteran of 155 games for the Swans after making his debut in 2016 and playing in the club’s lost grand final to the Western Bulldogs.
