It’s expected the NT Government will ask for a significant increase in Federal Government funding if it is to agree to reinstating alcohol bans in Alice Springs town camps.
The report by Central Australian Regional Controller Dorelle Anderson recommends the NT Government “urgently” reinstate Intervention-era alcohol bans that were lifted last July.
Chief Minister Natasha Fyles will meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra this afternoon to discuss Ms Anderson’s report and the governments’ subsequent response. Ms Fyles would not commit to bringing the bans back when she spoke to Sky News AM Agenda host Laura Jayes today.
