Care providers in Shropshire are facing potential closure due to a planned rise in employer National Insurance contributions (ENICs).
David Crosby, chief executive of Partners in Care, an organization representing care providers in Shropshire , is urging the government to exempt care workers from a rise in employer National Insurance contributions (ENICs). Crosby warns that the 10% increase in staff costs starting in April will be too much for care providers to absorb without a corresponding increase in fees from local authorities.
He fears that many care homes and home care providers will be forced to close due to the financial strain. Shropshire Council also shares these concerns, stating that the additional burden on businesses could have a devastating effect on care organizations.
