Following a tragic road crash that claimed the lives of four teenagers in North Wales, a Shropshire MP secured a Westminster debate to discuss safety measures for young drivers. The debate, scheduled for January 28, is prompted by a petition with 22,000 signatures and aims to address the overrepresentation of young drivers aged 17-24 in road traffic fatalities. Potential measures include 'Harvey's Hammer', a device designed to allow trapped occupants to escape crashed vehicles, additional young driver training, progressive licensing, and improved public transport options.

And one in five drivers will crash within their first year on the road.”
