Australians returning from Italy will be told to self-isolate for 14 days if they feel unwell in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus

, as the government places travel bans on three countries struggling to contain the disease.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison's office confirmed Australians returning from Italy who feel unwell will be asked to self-isolate after Mr Morrison made a brief reference to the measure at a press conference in Canberra on Thursday. The virus has killed 107 people in Italy and infected 3089 ."Enhanced screening measures will be in place for those visitors who have been coming through Italy and indeed Australians who are coming back from Italy," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra.

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday raised the level of the travel advisory for South Korea to "reconsider your need to travel" and said all Australian residents and citizens returning from the country would need to self-isolate.
