Damien North abused three girls

heard on Tuesday how Damien North, 34, targeted and abused the young girls before they reported him to police in October 2023.that one of the girls told how North approached her and sexually assaulted her.

Another girl said she woke to find NorthMr Morley said: "She woke to find him pulling the back of her trousers up and when she woke up he pulled his hand away really quickly and moved away as if he was looking for something else. This was part of a sexual assault.

" The court heard North, of no fixed abode, was arrested the same day a report was made to the police and denied any sexual activity with the girls or anything similar. Mr Morley said: "His phone was seized and search terms were found which were consistent with a sexual interest in children including, 'Young tiny porn.

'" As well as offences relating to those two girls, another came forward and reported she had been raped by North. The court heard the girl was found upset and said North had been "doing sexual things with me.

" Mr Morley said: "She described what had been done to her... The last time was a week before her interview... He told her not to tell anyone and he would buy her anything she wanted.

"The court heard that on another occasion North told the girl "not to tell anyone or he would go to prison. " Mr Morley said all of the victims were cross-examined before North pleaded guilty to a number of offences including rape, sexual activity with a child and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. Mitigating, Katherine Robinson, told the court a pre-sentence report had been carried out.

Ms Robinson said she was "comfortable" there would have been earlier guilty pleas but some evidence had got "lost" or "lost in the system.

"She said: "I have discussed with him at length his feelings and his acceptance of his behaviour. The pre-sentence report is not the way he has presented to me at all either the day he entered the pleas or today.

"He has expressed a very good insight into the impact and feels this may have an impact on the girls' behaviour towards other adults, other men and their relationships in the future and that is something that weighs heavily on him. "His Honour Judge Robin Mairs jailed North for 18 years and made him the subject of indefinite restraining orders and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
