A new musical comedy film based on the shocking kidnapping of Shannon Matthews has been branded 'cruel and sadistic'
A forthcoming musical comedy that parodies the shocking abduction of Shannon Matthews has been labelled as "cruel and sadistic" by members of the public. The performances of "Shannon Matthews: The Musical", created by dark comedy group K*** and the Gang, were sold out for four consecutive weeks when the play premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022.
However, it has already sparked controversy after the audacious singer-songwriters previewed some of the songs. Tracks such as "Shannon Ain't Dead " and "You're A Paedophile" will feature in the film. The songs, which make light of young Shannon's ordeal, have drawn swift criticism from both the public and politicians. One social media user, Janet Ayre, slammed the production as a "sick joke".
The pair had plotted to profit from her disappearance, planning to turn her into a police station after some time and claim the reward money. They were sentenced to eight years in prison for their scheme.
