and World Sickle Cell Day, a Houston organization is hosting an event to bring awareness to the disease and the community it disproportionally impacts.will partner with the Sickle Cell Community Consortium and the Black Heritage Society for the Sickle Cell Therapeutics Summit and Health Fair.Organizers said that the date and location are intentional, leaning into the fact that both Juneteenth and World Sickle Cell Day share the annual date where the Black community is the focal point of both.
Additionally, educational sessions about Sickle Cell Therapeutics will be a central feature, providing valuable information and resources for those affected by the disease and trait. The event is free and open to the community, particularly those living with sickle cell disease or caring for someone with the condition.Moriah Ballard joined the KPRC 2 digital team in the fall of 2021.
