This short route takes you between the lakeshore at Monk Coniston and Coniston Village
Sometimes, despite the weather being nice, you just cannot be bothered to get out and about. However, it's always worth it at the end when you've finished a walk and got some air in your lungs.
If you're in a mood where you can't be bothered, an easy, accessible Lake District walk is a perfect choice. It means you can get out walking without having to go too far or endure anything too taxing.The road from Monk Coniston can be busy, but there is a pathway set back from the road, offering a safe route. Walk from the head of Coniston Water to Tarn Hows via this picturesque circular route created by 19th-century industrialist J. G. Marshall to wow guests at his country estate.
As you can probably guess, this week we've chosen the Monk Coniston walk which offers views down the length of Coniston Water. Once you've finished this walk you'll be able to relax in a pub that has a real cosy and traditional feel. The Sun Inn, Coniston is nestled below Coniston Old Man so you'll be surrounded by fantastic views. The Sun Hotel describes itself as 'a creaky old building with a great bar' and that's certainly what you get. With a real traditional and cosy feel, The Sun is the first pub you come to after walking down Walna Scar Road from the old man.
