Sir Matt Busby's family had been given complimentary season tickets for Old Trafford since his death in 1994 but this was under threat after the Ineos takeover
Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly intervened to ensure that the family of Manchester United legend Sir Matt Busby retained their seats at Old Trafford amid unpopular changes under the Ineos hierarchy.
The Daily Mail reports that Ferguson felt compelled to reach out to the new chief executive Omar Berrada to ensure that the Busby family kept their season tickets. He was successful, with United finding them different seats in the same stand. He has cut 250 jobs and scrapped various perks for staff, including the Christmas party and complimentary tickets to the FA Cup final in May. "Manchester United has become mediocre," he declared to the United We Stand fanzine last week.
