Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy is leading a series of virtual rides and a charity event in September to raise funds for cancer research and awareness. Riders will join him on Zwift and a real-life event from Glasgow to Edinburgh, with fellow Olympians Sir Andy Murray and Duncan Scott, and cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish joining in.

The inspirational Olympian is raising millions of pounds by organising his Tour de 4 charity ride in September. That event will be preceded by a series of events on global virtual platform Zwift .

Among the big names signed up to either do the intercity run or do an indoor “virtual” event on Saturday alongside Chris are fellow Scottish Olympic gold medallists Sir Andy Murray and Duncan Scott, as well as road cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish. Chris is already believed to have save many lives after urging men to get tested for the killer illness.

Chris said: “My purpose now is to get the message spread as wide and as far as possible. The Tour de Four will hopefully change perceptions of what a stage four cancer diagnosis can look like.
