'Those with skin in the game know what's best for their communities'
New Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer gave an apparent nod to further devolution of Government powers out of London as he revealed he'll be meeting with Andy Burnham , the mayor of Greater Manchester, next week.
READ MORE: 'Nearly every PM in the last 20 years has come to my stall - I didn't vote for Starmer but I'll give him a chance' The PM said he wanted to 'establish a way of working across the United Kingdom that will be different and better to the way of working that we've had in recent years'. In an apparent reference to more devolution, he told reporters: "The principle I operate to is those with skin in the game know what's best for their communities, and that does require us to be bold about pushing power and resource out of Whitehall.
"And the principle I operate to, whether it's mayors or other elected representatives, is that where regional leaders want to deliver for their area, then regardless of the colour of their rosette, my door is open and my government will work with them.""Self-interest is yesterday's politics," he added.
