A tornado warning was in place for the Texas city
Parts of north east Texas were under threat of severe thunderstorms Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service, and over half a million customers were without power.The NWS advised people to 'stay inside a sturdy structure and keep away from windows.'The federal agency had earlier issued a tornado warning for the Dallas-Fort Worth area that lasted until 6:30 a.m. local time. Sirens can be heard in videos shared on X, formerly Twitter as rain lashes down in Dallas.
Forecasters also warned of 'half-dollar' sized hailstones that could damage vehicles. It They said 'wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.'The severe weather caused widespread power outages, with more than 600,000 customers without power Tuesday morning, according to utility tracking site poweroutage.us.
