Julie Mamo has been waiting her whole life to meet her little sister. The Aussie clutched flowers as she waited for her sibling, Julie Ansell, to step off a flight from the UK. 9News

Mamo's biological mother gave her up for adoption after she was born out of wedlock in Dover in 1956.At the age of nine, Mamo landed into the arms of her adopted parents David and Mavis Holland.

After the family moved to Adelaide as ten-pound Poms when Mamo was 13, she had questions about the identity her birth mother for 50 years.Unknowingly, at about the same time, both families were using MyHeritage DNA kits to find the link.Last year there was a match and the pair also found a connection on Facebook."He said 'Julie, do you know a woman named Julie Mamo?'" Ansell said.The Julies have spoken online ever since.

Lillian passed away in 2019 and while she had told her family about the adoption, she hadn't given her first child a name.For the next month there will be plenty of hugs, before both of them hop on a plane again, and meet the rest of the family in the UK.Continue reading
