ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Sitka second baseman Dylan Marx was just trying to keep things simple in his Alaska Baseball League debut.
The former Sitka High School standout is fresh off his freshman season with Feather River College in California, where he reached base in all 45 games while recording an impressive on-base percentage of 0.458. ”It means a lot, because coming from Alaska, it has always been a dream of mine to come out here and play, not specifically for the Pilots, but just in this league,” he said, “and I am glad to have the jersey on and carry on the legacy.”Founded in 1974, the Alaska Baseball League features heavy college talent from around the country to play in the 49th State’s ballparks.
