Six flood warnings are active in Lancashire following extreme weather conditions characterized by heavy rainfall and strong winds. The Environment Agency has issued urgent 'act now' warnings for Rawtenstall, Waterfoot, Bacup, and Ramsbottom. Social media posts show flooded roads in Rossendale with vehicles stranded. Lancashire Police reported numerous flooding-related incidents in Blackburn, Darwen, Rossendale, and Burnley, urging motorists to avoid the area unless necessary.
The Environment Agency has issued urgent 'act now' in the areas of Rawtenstall, Waterfoot, Bacup and Ramsbottom. It comes as pictures shared on social media showed several roads under water in Rossendale with vehicles stuck.
Motorists are being urged to avoid these areas and 'only travel if necessary'. For each of the flood warnings warnings, the Environment Agency is urging people to 'start acting on a flood plan if you have one'. A yellow weather warning for wind comes into force at 3pm today and lasts until 6am on Sunday . The Met Office has also issued a more severe amber warning for 'potentially damaging winds' due to strike on Saturday between 3am and 9pm.
