They all share the type of features that make up the remaining 20 per cent, which includes things like an outdoor area, a rumpus room, an extra bathroom and a kitchenette. The private co-housing project is surrounded by freestanding homes in a sought-after suburb of Wellington. "So we were thinking very much that surely if we pool our resources, there must be another way to get a good home — a humble, but warm and dry home.""I feel so good. Sort of a state of being and feeling incredulous that that is the home that I have built with my friends," Ms McCrossin said.

"Because we were taking that mortgage out in chunks, we managed to pay down quite a lot as we were doing it," she said. At the heart of the problem was the fact the group was trying to build something banks didn't know how to value.

Government’s green agenda costing AustraliansGovernment’s green agenda costing AustraliansSky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says cost of living will continue to rise as the government pushes towards net zero. Mr Greenwood’s comments come as the government considers putting green tariffs on steel and cement imports. “This is crazy stuff so we can't even get the cheapest goods around the world to support our economy to support our lives, and all of that just raises inflation and therefore keeps your interest rates higher,” he told Sky News Host Andrew Bolt.
