Sky has warned customers that they will need to make a vital change or risk losing access to channels in October - but don't worry, it's free to do

Sky customers, take note: you might need to upgrade your box or risk losing your channels. The company has announced it's phasing out SD broadcasts of its Sky channels via satellite, as the industry moves towards HD-only content. The BBC and ITV are already turning off their SD channels on satellite, with most people now having access to HD TVs.

On its website, Sky advises: "We're changing how we deliver our TV services. To keep your Sky TV services you'll need to upgrade to a HD compatible box before your payment due date in October," reports the Irish Mirror.
