The Rising has been axed by Sky just months before it was set to begin production.
:"It was canceled before they were due to start filming. All the cast and everything [were ready to go] and they just pulled the plug."
Although Sky had never publicly confirmed a second season, showrunner Pete McTighe revealed last year that he had started working on the next instalment.:"I have already written a plan for a second [season], and I think it’s really exciting and interesting. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to jinx it. I want it to happen."
