I’ve long eschewed the unfavourable weather conditions and mud of UK festivals for those held in European hotspots, where glorious sunshine and sand under the toes feels a whole lot better than soggy Wellingtons and possible trenchfoot. This year will be my 10th anniversary at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in the South of France, where a beach swim and a pre-party round of oysters beats a lengthy queue at the Portaloos and a greasy burger van.
