Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity has slid “further and further down” in opinion polls as rows over security funding continue to fester, says the Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers.
A new poll has revealed the depth of the British public’s dislike for Harry and his wife, with 61 per cent of respondents saying the Duke should be removed from the line of succession.
A majority of 74 per cent of respondents said the Montecito-based couple should cover costs themselves. Mr Myers added the row over who should foot the bill for the Duke and Duchess’s security during their visits to the UK “remains unresolved”. Debate over the couple’s degree of involvement in the monarchy reignited over the weekend as the royal family marked one year since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
