I was near the Champs-Élysées in the central of the city when someone gasped in French among the crowds "Notre Dame is on fire." Earlier, the warm spring sunshine had rained down on the arrondissements, with a cooling wind blowing over the city.But those winds, which has earlier been cooling locals and tourists sat in the parks and by the banks of the river, only served to fan the flames of the old cathedral.
I was in Paris on a mini-break, and just a day earlier I had remarked at the beauty of the cathedral and it's majesty.As I walked by on Sunday, the clergy were holding a Palm Sunday mass in front of a gathering crowds.
