More than 80 homes will be built on the site near Mansfield
A show bungalow is now open at a new luxury retirement development near Mansfield . Located on the former Metal Box factory site, this space is now being regenerated to create 82 luxury retirement homes.
Developers were keen to retain this beacon as a nod to the site's heritage as being a major employer for more than a century in the area. The site was originally a mustard mill, then later used by Barringer, Wallis and Manners, before then being taken over by The Metal Box Company. Richard Irwin at Irwin Project Management said: “As local developers we are aware of the history and attachment residents have for this site. It is a factory site that originally dates to 1839, so over the years has been a major employer of generations of Nottinghamshire people.
A show home bungalow has now been unveiled at The Valley, and there is a sales and marketing suite open to visitors every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This showcases the range of bungalows, maisonettes and apartments being built at the site, as well as plans for communal rooms.
