UK residents should brace for another Arctic onslaught as temperature maps indicate a -5C deep freeze. Following an unexpectedly mild start to November, wintry conditions struck last week with temperatures plummeting to -11.2°C in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, amidst widespread snow flurries.
All of Britain will experience a brisk beginning on Tuesday, with most places hovering in the low single digits, while Scotland might see temperatures dip to -1C. The mercury is expected to fall even lower come Tuesday night, reaching around -5C in Scotland due to a high-pressure system, although most UK areas will stay close to freezing point.
Mike Silverstone, deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, has warned of potential heavy rain tonight. He explained: "On Tuesday night, we'll see outbreaks of rain spreading north-eastwards, which could be heavy at times. We're expected this to be heaviest across the south/southeast of England, although subtle changes over the next 24 hours will have an impact on how this develops.
