East Midlands Airport was forced to halt flights temporarily
Flight delays, bus diversions and a "serious" crash dominated Nottinghamshire headlines on a day in which heavy snowfall impacted people across the county and the rest of the East Midlands. People across parts of the county will have woken to a small carpet of snow, but the weather did not let up for the rest of Thursday, March 9.
Nottinghamshire Live spoke to residents around Breck Hill Road, Mapperley, where cars were congested up and down the road, about the disruptions. Rick Boxall, 62, said: "I've been doing a journey that usually takes five minutes and it's taken me 20. "I would usually do my shopping down the other side of Porchester Road, but by the time I get there, it'll be too late. So, I'm out now just doing my shopping but it's going to take an extra hour."
It was reported at around 4.45am. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "Motorists are being advised to avoid Bawtry Road, Bircotes, after a serious crash this morning. Emergency services were called at around 9.45am."
