Voters in the west of Glasgow will elect a new councillor on December 5, following the death of long-serving SNP councillor Kenny McLean. Cylina Porch, the SNP candidate, aims to continue McLean's legacy, while Labour's James Adams also contests the Partick East/Kelvindale ward.
Voters in the west of the city will go to the polls tomorrow to elect a new councillor after the death of SNP stalwart Kenny McLean.
Cylina Porch has been selected as the SNP candidate bidding to replace long-serving Mr McLean, and has pledged to build on his work if she is elected. However, since then, the successful candidate in the North East ward, Mary McNab, has been disqualified from the role after failing to comply with legislation which required her to stand down from her Glasgow City Council job the next working day.
She added, since coming to power, the Labour government has been “a massive let-down for families across Glasgow — voting to maintain the harmful two-child cap which is keeping Glaswegian children in poverty, and imposing cuts to the winter fuel payment for pensioners.”
