EXCLUSIVE: The SNP have upgraded Aberdeenshire North and Moray East to a “tier 1” target after Ross announced he will quit as leader.
John Swinney has made unseating embattled Scots Tory leader Douglas Ross a top priority for the SNP election campaign.
A revolt by colleagues and questions over his Westminster expenses led to him announcing he would quit after July 4th.A party source said Aberdeenshire North and Moray East had been upgraded from a “tier 2” target after the resignation and expenses row. "Well, all he has done is made *us* more determined than ever to take the SNP's message to the people of Aberdeenshire North & Moray East. We are going to dog his footsteps all the way to the 4th of July.
"If voters in this constituency unite around Douglas Ross and the Scottish Conservatives on July 4th they can beat the SNP, end their independence obsession for good and get the focus onto their real priorities like creating good jobs and standing up for rural interests."He told journalists: “It’s been a very challenging few days and I’m not trying to ignore that or run away from that.”
