The £110,000 vehicle is at the centre of a major police investigation into the party’s finances.
The SNP are demanding police hand over a campervan seized from former CEO Peter Murrell’s mum’s driveway.Murrell, his wife Nicola Sturgeon, and former SNP treasurer Colin Beattie have all been arrested and questioned as suspects as part of Operation Branchform.
But party officials, who claimed the van was bought as a campaign vehicle after it was seized from the Glenrothes drive almost a year ago, have insisted police return it. Another SNP source said: “It is unclear whether an official representation has been made to Police Scotland or whether this is just mischief making. Clearly the issue of who originally bought the van, whose money it was bought with, and the ownership history, are important parts of this investigation.”
