Neighbours icon Lucinda Cowden has revealed that her character Melanie Pearson is leaving the soap. She shot her final scenes on the Amazon Prime Video-revived series earlier this summer. Her character, Melanie, is currently tangled in a love triangle with Annie Jones' Jane Harris and Craig Hall's Vic Stone. But that's all set to change as she'll be waving goodbye to her role next month.
According to spoilers, Melanie will be 'closing a chapter' on her life as the locals gather to throw her a farewell bash at the 82 tram Café before she drives off in a van. When quizzed by the YouTube channel host about what's been happening in the show, Lucinda shared that it was a "year of a lot of goodbyes."
"Aww, sad that Lucinda is leaving," one user expressed, while another declared: "Ffs! ! ! Start the petition, boys! Bring back our Mel." It comes after another Neighbours star has left the soap as Ryan Maloney exited the show after 30 years. The star first joined the Aussie soap back in 1995 as Toadie ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi. As he announced his departure, Ryan explained he will now be turning his hand to directing and assures fans he will remain as part of the Neighbours family.
