A class-action lawsuit brought against the Social Security Administration has been approved by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the $22.7 million settlement will potentially be distributed to thousands of employees who may have been affected by alleged discrimination over the annual bonus system at the agency.The case accused the SSA of discriminating against Black males by giving them 'fewer awards and less-valuable monetary awards,' according to the settlement agreement.
The settlement provides for the monetary decision of nearly $23 million to address the harm the employees suffered.Also as part of the settlement, the SSA agreed 'to collect and analyze demographic data corresponding to monetary awards in Social Security Administration Headquarters for Fiscal Year 2024 and 2025' to monitor how they are distributed to prevent any potential discrimination in the future.'It provides the settlement fund, the $22.
