Police say the victim is in a serious condition after the attack on a residential street just before 6pm on Tuesday.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a soldier was stabbed in Kent and airlifted to hospital in a serious condition. It happened on Tuesday evening in Chatham - near Brompton Barracks, headquarters of the 1 Royal School of Military Engineering Regiment. The army declined to comment on reports the soldier was in uniform at the time. Kent Police said the victim, who is in his 40s, suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds. His condition was described as serious.
